![]() This is the general mingle log for August. Feel free to post open top levels for: new arrivals, job duties, general hanging out in common spaces, bonding with your block, and anything else you can think of. There will not be a catch all for the event, so you can put event starters here or in their own separate log! |

Where is "here?"

[His excitement is turned on Abel next. It's almost palpable how thoroughly interested Reno is -- how almost guileless in this moment, completely wrapped up in the thrill of the skies.]
I take it you don't usually go to space?
[He grinned.]

[ The solemn expression he'd taken on at being asked the first question passes, smiling with the second. ]
No, not usually. I always thought it'd be cool to get into the space program, though. Through engineering, probably, though I think I wouldn't mind heading out into it.
[ He perks up again, as a thought strikes him, and he stands up on the wing to make his way down the access rungs built into the side of the plane. ]

I know Shinra wanted to build their own private rocket at one point, but the president got impatient with the investment. Ended up cutting the funds. [He thought for a moment.] I dunno about "old enough," but I sure been flying since I managed to get my hands on the controls.
[He snickered and sighed.] I dunno about going to space, though. All the emptiness an' confinement of it, y'know?
no subject
It's not confining at all.
[ Abel smiles warmly, gesturing for Reno to follow him to the edge of the hangar, beyond which has void and stars even farther than the eye can see. Looking off the edge leaves the impression of what it might be like to jump off a cliff, if the earth itself were even too far away to see below. ]
C'mon, I'll show you.
[ Still facing Reno, Abel steps backwards out into the nothingness, completely at ease. He doesn't fall, but each backwards step he takes puts him further out into the void, looking as if he's walking on solid ground even with nothing beneath him. ]

[As he sees Abel step backwards, Reno's expression becomes one of horror and he reaches out to try to grab the other man -- then he looks shocked, and further amazed, to see Abel doesn't float away into the vacuum of death.]
This... Huh.
no subject
You're right that it has all those things in reality, but... [ Gestures to the void around him in order to let it speak for itself, basically. ] Worst thing that happens is your ears might pop. Mine did the first couple times I came out here.
no subject
This is fuckin' incredible!
[He pokes at his ears a bit and works his jaw but doesn't seem inconvenienced at all at the adjustment.]
I thought my dreams were pretty cool, but this is probably the best shit ever.
