[ Thankfully, most of the inmates of Block A aren't completely insane. Steve likes to think most of them are relatively normal, his cellmate not included out of personal experience. Not like the weirdos in other blocks, at least..

He looks surprised when Abel seems to be talking to him, glancing a few times between his face and that extended hand before he actually shakes it. ]

Hey, Abel. I'm Steve. Been here long?

[ Abel does not yet realise how lucky he is that this block isn’t as apeshit-crazy as the others. To him, it’s all been unnerving and looks like trouble.

He’s so surprised when he’s met with a handshake, even if he’s the one who started it, and the way he relaxes is visible from the way his shoulders finally come down from their constant nervous hunch. ]

Steve. Nice to meet you. [ He wants to ask if it’s so obvious that he’s new, but he doesn’t want to know how the answer could be nothing but a resounding yes. ] No, I actually haven’t even been here a week.
